Sustainable Environment

ASolid is an IC design company and does not have a manufacturing factory.
Our internal environmental sustainability focuses on three aspects: greenhouse gas inventory, water resources and waste management. We will also strengthen publicity on energy conservation and carbon reduction, promote various energy-saving measures to reduce the impact on the environment for the earth.

Greenhouse Gas Management

GHG emissions:

Year 2022 2023
Unit tonCO2e % tonCO2e %
Category 1 (direct emissions) 45.02 9% 47.23 8%
Category 2

(purchased electricity-indirect emissions)

475.65 91% 519.52 92%
Total 520.67 100% 566.75 100%
Emissions increased (decreased) % 9%
Greenhouse gas emission intensity

 (tonCO2e/Million Revenue)

0.27 0.34
Intensity increased (decreased) % 24%

Note 1: Greenhouse gas coverage: Parent company, including Hsinchu and Taipei offices.
Note 2: Greenhouse Gas Factor Reference: EPA Greenhouse Gas Emission Factor Management Tables Version 6.0.4.

The main energy consumption of ASolid comes from purchased electricity (category 2), which accounts for more than 90% of the overall emissions. The rest is from fugitive emission sources such as refrigerants, and there are no manufactured process emission sources.
The total CO2e emissions in 2023 will increase by approximately 9% compared to 2022. This is mainly due to the larger area of the newly purchased Taipei office, the increase in the number of company employees, and the relative increase in electricity consumption.

Reduction targets, promotion measures and achievement status:

Reduction Targets

We used 2023 as the base year and the number of employees as the standard. Within 2 years, it will reduce the electricity consumption per unit of employees by 1%, promote energy conservation and carbon reduction measures, and gradually reduce energy waste.

Promotion Measures

  1. Continuously replace old fluorescent lamps and replace them with energy-saving LED lamps.
  2. Turn off air conditioning and lighting when no one is using conference rooms and laboratories to save energy.
  3. Electronic sign-off systems, such as employee leave systems, travel applications for paperless.
  4. Announcements to promote energy conservation and carbon reduction.
  5. Invest in a temperature control system to save energy.
  6. When replacing or purchasing new equipment, we will have priority on energy-saving design products.

Achievement Status

Item1.2.3.4 are all being implemented. Item 5.6 are expected to be implemented in 2025.
(The Zhubei office purchased a temperature control system and air conditioning VRV system.)
In the future, the achievement of reduction targets will be tracked through routine greenhouse gas inventories and reviews.

Water Resources Management

Water consumption:

Year 2022 2023
Intake Taken from the water supply company (unit: million liters) 4.89 4.73
Increased (decreased) % -3%
Water intensity (Million Liters/Million Revenue) 0.0025 0.0028

Note 1: Coverage: Parent company’s Hsinchu office.
Note 2: The Hsinchu and Taipei offices draw water from the water supply company. The water fee is included in the building management fee. However, the water consumption of the Taipei office cannot be obtained, and the assessment is not significant to ASolid, so the water consumption is based on the Hsinchu office. The water consumption of the building x (ASolid area/total area of the building)] is estimated

Reduction targets, promotion measures and achievement status:

Reduction Targets

We used 2023 as the base year and the number of employees as the standard. Within 2 years, it will reduce the water consumption per unit of employees by 1%

Promotion Measures

  1. Promote employees from time to time on the concept of water conservation and the practical actions of closing down water.
  2. If water supply equipment is found to be damaged or leaking, repair it immediately to avoid wasting water.
  3. Evaluate the installation of water savers.
  4. When replacing old equipment, priority will be given to those with the “Water Saving Label”.

Achievement Status

Item1.2. are all being implemented. Item 3.4 are expected to be implemented in 2025.
In the future, we will continue to understand changes in water consumption trends and track the achievement of reduction targets.

Waste Management

Waste weight:

Year 2022 2023
General industrial waste (tons) 90.35 96.69
Hazardous industrial waste (tons) 0.00 0.00
Total 90.35 96.69
Increased (decreased) % 7%
Waste intensity (Tons/Million Revenue) 0.05 0.06

Note 1: Greenhouse gas coverage: Parent company, including Hsinchu and Taipei offices. We only had general industrial waste and had not hazardous industrial waste in 2022 and 2023.
N ote 2: General industrial waste is all handled by the building management committee. There is no actual data. Therefore, the total amount of general industrial waste is estimated by the Ministry of Environment publishes the estimated general waste generation per person per day *based on the ASolid population.
Note 3: The Ministry of Environment has announced the general waste generation per person per day: The average general waste generation per person per day in 2022 and 2023 was 1.32 kg/day and 1.359 kg/day, respectively.

Reduction targets, promotion measures and achievement status:

Reduction Targets

We used 2023 as the base year and aim to reduce the waste intensity by 1% within 2 years.

Promotion Measures

  1. Srict to implement the classification and recycling of garbage and food waste in order to reuse resources.
  2. Promote paperless and recycle paper for reuse.
  3. Promote waste reduction and garbage reduction.

Achievement Status

Item1.2. 3 are all being implemented.
In the future, we will continue to pay attention to changes in emission trends and evaluate emission calculation methods to reduce the external impact of our own operations.
